This instrument serves as a faithful reproduction of a Guadagnini guitar, reminiscent of the kind that Mauro Giuliani (1781-1829) would have favored. As relayed by Hermann Hauser III, it was one among several instruments meticulously crafted by his grandfather for Prof. Heinrich Scherrer, a renowned figure in the world of lute and classical guitar, often referred to as "the king of the lute and guitar" in Munich during the period spanning from 1900 to 1920.

For its construction, European flamed maple was employed for the back, sides, and neck, while the top was fashioned from German spruce. In keeping with Hauser Sr.'s approach for all instruments destined for Prof. Scherrer, the top was intentionally left unvarnished, maintaining a near-natural appearance. The guitar features a scalloped fingerboard complete with metal frets up to the 9th fret, with ivory utilized for the upper frets. With a string length of 645mm and a nut width of 48mm, all aspects of the instrument remain in their original state.

This masterful luthier achieved a tone in this instrument that mirrors the typical concert guitars crafted by Guadagnini: a harmonious, refined, and dry yet crystal-clear sound. It boasts vibrant and focused trebles alongside resonant bass notes, and its exceptional separation allows for impeccable blending of strings in chords.
