Juan Miguel González was born in Almeria
in 1947. His father, Miguel González Abad
(1906-1889), was a guitar maker, who was a contemporary Hermanos Moya, who were
closely associated with Antonio Torres, and finished a number of guitars that
Torres left unfinished after his death. Juan Miguel Gonzalez carries on this
noble tradition of Spanish building. From childhood, Juan Miguel began working
with his father, building his first guitar at fifteen. He is now widely consider
one of Spain's master guitar makers. Ever the master craftsman and innovator, he
is constantly looking for ways to improve the acoustic qualities of his guitar.
Built with carefully selected premium woods, his guitars are true testaments to
the luthier's art. As he is a lone luthier his production of guitars is very limited,
building some twelve to fifteen guitars a year. He is equally know for his
classical and flamenco guitars. His classical guitar are played by such artists
as Juan Francisco Padilla, Adriano del Sal, Marcin Dylla, José Antonio Escobar,
Roman Viazoskyv, and Iván Rijos. His
flamenco guitars are played by Tomatito, Norberto Torres, Monolo Franco, Carlos
Piñana, and El Niño
de la Manola.
