Francisco Navarro Garcia,
(b. 1963) began building when he was about twenty. Within a few years he
had established himself as one of the finest builders in Mexico. In
1989, he won first place in the national competition among hundreds of
guitar makers in Mexico held annually in Paracho. Although Francisco
calls this grand concert classical guitar is his Fleta model. He explains that it is not a copy per
se, rather it is his interpretation of a Fleta. The workmanship on this
guitar is excellent, and compares well with guitars made in Spain. Among
the nice details on this guitar is a twelve hole bridge, which permits a
sharper break angle for the strings as they cross the saddle, and so
greater downward force, and hence more volume. This guitar is
responsive, has a clear voice that projects well, and has a rich, full
tone. The intonation is excellent.
