The Spanish luthier Domingo Esteso
Lopez was one the guitar great
makers of the early 20th century to come out of the shop of Manuel Ramirez.
After Manuel Ramirez died, he opened his own shop on the calle Gravina, where he was joined by his
13 year old nephew, Faustino Conde in 1926. After his death in 1937,
Domingo's widow (Vda) took over the shop, and Faustino and his two
brothers, Mariano and Julio continued working for her building under the
label Vda y Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso (Widow and nephews of Domingo
Esteso) which they signed Conde Hermanos until her death in the 1960s,
when they began using their own label Hermanos Conde, sobrinos (nephews)
of Domingo Esteso. This guitar made by the Conde Hermanos in Gravina
Shop in 1944.
Over all
this guitar is in remarkable condition. There a few cracks on the back
and top which were expertly repaired by
J. Alberto Pantoja
Martin in Sevilla.
some six years, and do not affect the sound. There are a few small
scratches and dings on the sides and back. Again nothing serious The
neck is straight, and the action is set up for flamenco. This guitar has
the wonderful, dry flamenco rasp, and soul that made Conde
Hermanos
world famous, and the choice of many flamenco players. This rare guitar
would be a great instrument for any player, and a wonderful addition to
any collection.
