All the woods employed in
building this guitar have been aged at least 30 years. The German spruce
used for the top is outstanding, and Indian rosewood is superb. Felix Manzanero
is one of the handful of outstanding luthiers to come out of the Ramirez
workshop in the 1960s (such as Bernabe, Contreras, and Mario Tezanos), and is widely considered among finest flamenco guitar makers in Spain. This handmade concert flamenca
negra guitar not only
is an absolute gems of the luthier's art, but has the power and tone one expects
in a great flamenca negra: profound basses, rich incisive trebles, and an
aggressive flamenco bark. I picked this one out myself in Madrid on my most
recent visit to Spain.
