Antonio Rodriguez Orozco is a respected Spanish luthier from the province of Granada. He was born in 1923 in Garrucha, Almeria. When he was 11 his family moved to Baza. His father arranged for him to apprentice as a cabinet maker. In 1958, together with a guitar maker from Baza, he went to Madrid and spent some time working in various workshops, eventually landing in the shop of Antonio Dotras Cordoba, a guitar maker from Barcelona, who at the time had his workshop in Madrid. After perfecting his craft there, Antonio returned to Baza, and set up his own workshop. For about twenty years, he made guitars for the luthiers Antonio Dotras Cordoba and Gerundino Fernandez in Almeria. Despite his age, he continues to pursue his life long love of building high quality handmade classical and flamenco guitars. Antonio Rodriguez is traditional luthier, who builds entirely by hand, and works alone, so his production is very limited. |
