Manuel Reyes is among the finest flamenco builders in Spain. Manuel Reyes began
building guitars professionally in 1949. Manuel's stature
is such that Luis F. Leal Pinar devotes an entire chapter in "Guitarreros de
Andalucia" (2004) to him. His flamenco guitars are in such demand that he has a
waiting list of ten years, and is no longer taking new orders. This guitar has
been well-used for a flamenco, but has some nail marks, back scratches, binding
edge dings, and a high e string burn. There is a filled hole on the heel cap
where a strap pin once existed. There is a strap pin on the end. The guitar has
had a couple of repairs: a crack near the seam from the bridge to the bottom has
been repaired and cleated. And, back cracks have been spline filled. The action
of this guitar is currently set at the 12th fret at 3.5 and 3mm on the 6th and
1st strings respectively. There is enough bone showing in the saddle to lower the action if so desired.
