Felicano Bayón, who died in 1998, was the nephew of Santos Hernández, and inherited the shop of his famous uncle. He built under the label Sobrinos de Santos Hernández, and was the father of Santos Bayón. Feliciano studied his uncle's guitars very closely, and modeled his guitars on those of his uncle's. Although this guitar was made in 1981 and shows some wear and tear--a few dings, a couple of cracks on either side of the fingerboard near the rosette of about 1.5 cm--all such problems could be repaired easily, and at no great expense. None represent real issues in terms of overall structural soundness, playability or possible affect on tone. This guitar is an opportunity to get a first rate concert guitar at a very reasonable price.
