This 1987 concert flamenco guitar
by Valeriano Bernal is representative of his best models. His flamenco guitars
are particularly sought after by professionals, and have that edge that flamenco
players love, and an endearing deep, dark tonality characteristic of guitars
from Andalusia. This instrument is generally in good condition. As might
be expected, it has a few dings, a string burn behind the first string. There
are a couple of
cracks. One, about three inches long, runs along the
upper edge of the fingerboard. We suspect it is just in the lacquer finish
(because it definitely does not go through the top). The other runs back from
the bridge, and is a little longer. It appears to be stable and does not move
when you push on it, so it might not be in the wood. The owner describes this
guitar as being one of the easiest guitars to play that he has ever touched, and
should one want to lower the action, there is enough saddle to make an
adjustment.
