Kenny Hill is a respected American builder, and head of the Hill Guitar Company. This is his Signature model concert, which is the top of the Hill line. This is guitar number 2890 and was built in 2009. The Signature model encorporates the most advanced methods of construction currently in use, and features a "double top" as first practiced by Damman, Wagner, and others. This technique is borrowed from ultra light aviation technology. The double top consists of sandwich that uses Nomex, an ultra light cell structure in the middle, sandwiched between a very thin layer of cedar on the inside and spruce on the outside. This makes for an extremely light sound board, but one that also has just the right stiffness. Outwardly it looks like a normal spruce sound board. The top itself is braced fairly traditionally, with a bracing pattern similar to Miguel Rodriguez. This Signature Model has the optional sound ports in the upper shoulders similar to those developed by Robert Ruck. It also has a elevated fingerboard, and jumbo frets. This model also features a double action truss rod in the neck, so the string action can always be kept at optimum adjustment, regardless of changes in climate, etc. This design and construction makes not just for a very loud guitar, but also one with beautiful tone. The dynamic range is wide and very easy to control, and the color palette is also very wide and extra easy to control.
