Teodoro Perez was born in 1952At the age of 14 he began as an apprentice in the Jose Ramirez workshop, building guitars, lutes, bandurias and mandolins. In 1970 Jose Ramirez IIIpromoted him to First Official. The guitars he made at Ramirez are stamped with his initials GPM.  After twenty years in the Ramirez workshop, in 1991 Teodoro Perezand Mariano Tezanos another Ramirez ex-Offical decided to open their own shop, and built guitars under the name "Tezanos-Perez." This partnership lasted fourteen years. In 2005, Teodoro Perez began building under his own name, working with his son, Sergio -- who has worked with his father since 1998, and has become a great luthier in his own right. This guitar is in nearmint condition--except for one minor ding on the top (that one must look closely to see). What looks like a gash in the photo of the top is not this ding, but a reflection. The guitar is his Model Madrid, and the label is signed and dated. It fitted with Gotoh tuners, which have been upgrade from black buttons to ivoroid buttons. The seller will include the original black buttons. The action is set up very well, and plays comfortable. The seller notes that the guitar has "a very “alive” sound, is responsive, and has very good volume."
