Domingo Esteso (1882-1937) was one of a number of world class luthiers to come out of the Manuel Ramirez workshop. Born in San Clemente in the province of Cuenca, he started his apprenticeship with Manuel Ramirez sometime in the 1890s. After Manuel Ramirez died in 1916, Domingo worked for Manuel's widow until about 1917, and then he opened his own shop on the calle Gravina. In 1926, his nephew, Faustino Conde, began his apprenticeship with him, and after his death in 1937 took over the Gravina shop, and taught his two brothers, Mariano and Julio the trade. While this guitar may look like a flamenco, its back and sides are not may of cypress, but of European sycamore. Its body dimensions  and classical tonality suggest that it is a Torres model concert classical guitar. It has been recently restored, and has great clarity of tone, with wonderful trebles, firm rich basses, and a vibrant mid-range.
