Ricardo Sanchis Carpio (b. 1937) is the grandson of Ricardo Sanchis Nacher (1881-1960) who was founder Sanchis guitars. His father was killed in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War, and so he was trained by his grandfather. He made his first guitar in 1950. After his grandfather's death in 1960,  his uncle inherited the company, so he open his own workshop-- which continues to the present, and now includes his children who build under the name Hermanos Sanchis Lopez. Ricardo although less involved in the business end of the company, continues to build their high end models under his own name.

This guitar made in 1978 is the Ricardo Sanchis Carpio model 3 classical, and though not his top model, was intended to satisfy the needs for professional players and advanced students.  For a guitar this age, it has survived in remarkable shape, while the finish shows normal wear, and there is what appears to be string-burn that corresponds to the first string near the bridge. There are no cracks, nor warping of the neck. The set up looks to be standard for a classical guitar.
