Born in Madrid in 1926, Contrerasjoined the Ramirez workshop as a senior journeyman in 1959. It was Contreras who made the first José Ramirez guitar Andrés Segovia bought in 1960. After three years with Ramirez, Manuel opened his own guitar workshop in the center of Madrid.  He soon earned a reputation as one of the finest and most innovative luthiers in Spain. Contreras died in 1994 of cancer. Overall this guitar is in excellent condition, aside from a tiny ding and a small blemish near the bridge (see photos). The setup at the 12th fret is at 3mm, and there is ample bone above the bridge to adjust the action should it ever be needed. PLEASE NOTE: THIS GUITAR IS IN AUSTRALIA-- and as it is made with rosewood would require CITES documents (or exemption) to export.
