Dake Traphagen is a luthier in Bellingham, Washington. After making a number of folk instruments, in 1972 he began studies with Ed Hunnington, a violin maker in California. A friend encouraged him to build a guitar-- one thing led to another and after two years studying violin making and repair, he open his own shop, building guitars and repairing instruments. In 1976 he went to Europe, and spent a month working with the well-known Dutch guitar and lute maker, Nico van der Waals. Returning home his passion for building led him to not only make classical and flamenco guitars, but many styles of lutes, vihuelas, harpsichords, baroque guitars, and harps. But over the last 25 years, he has narrowed his forcus to primarily making classical and flamenco guitars, as well as a few 19th century and baroque guitars. Dake Traphagen's guitars are used by many professional musicians including Scott Tennant, Jason Vieux, and Pepe Romero.

This is Dake's 1a model Double top, (a Nomex sandwich). It has a raised fingerboard, and 12 hole bridge. It is powerful, well balanced, with an authoritative tone. Apart for some minor marks and scuffs, (string burn, marks from strings, etc) it is in excellent shape. I have seen and played this guitar, and its neck is straight, and it is set up properly. More importantly, it offers a concert quality sound that professionals demand.
