The Spanish luthier José Lopez Bellido was born in Granada in 1943. From childhood, he was drawn to music, and eventually apprenticed with Eduardo Ferrer building bandurrias and guitars for him, on and off, for 14 years. He eventually married one of Eduardo's daughters. After leaving the Casa Ferrer, he worked for a time with his brother Manuel, and also studied withAntonio Marin Montero for a while. In 1968, he established his own shop. Over the years, he has trained Antonio Raya Pardo and Bernd Martin. Jose uses the traditional system of construction of Ferrer, Santos Hernandez, and Ramirez, and his flamenco guitars are played by many famous guitarists in Europe, Japan, and America. This flamenco guitar was built in 2000, and is his top model. Other than two hairline cracks in the top, which were professionally repaired by the luthier Stewart Palmer of Doncaster, the guitar is in very good condition. The neck is straight and the set up is pure flamenco: low, fast, and comfortable. It comes with a professional cejilla, and original hardase.
