Dr. James Greenberg
Zavaleta’s La Casa de Guitarras was founded in 1996 by James Greenberg, a lifelong guitarist whose engagement with classical and flamenco traditions dates back to 1961. Alongside a career as a professor at the University of Arizona, he developed a deep involvement in the guitar world as a performer, restorer, and collector.
Today, Zavaleta’s is managed and operated in the United States by Henry Zavaleta Greenberg, who oversees all day-to-day business operations, sales, and client relations. Under his leadership, the shop continues its focus on high-quality classical and flamenco guitars, careful curation, and professional service.
James Greenberg remains involved in an advisory and curatorial role, contributing his experience with historic and contemporary instruments while no longer participating in daily operations. The founding vision—respect for tradition paired with careful stewardship—continues under this next generation of leadership.
We are honored to announce that Zavaleta's La Casa de Guitarras has been distinguished by Clarion Musical Instrument Insurance as a charter member of their esteemed Dealer Representative Network.
