When I first saw this guitar in Granada a few months ago, Antonio Raya Pardo had just finished building it, but had not yet applied the finish. We strung it up, and played it for the first time. It was a canon, a monster, an extraordinary flamenco guitar with great power and projection. I bought it on the spot. Its back and sides are made of Koa wood, which like spruce is light weight, but produces a guitar an fantastic palette of color, yet still flamenco in tone, with great duende. Antonio has fitted this guitar with mechanical pegs, that feel like real pegs, but are extremely smooth, and work without slippage. The action is very comfortable, and it is a real joy to play.
