The Hermanos Sanchis Lopez, David and German, are the forth generation of luthiers in the Sanchis family in Valencia. Their great grandfather, Ricardo Sanchis Nacher (1881-1960) founded the firm in 1915, and had a close relationship with Domingo Esteso among others. His sons, Ricardo Sanchis Badia (1911-1938) and Vicente Sanchis Badia (1923-2001) were trained by their father. Ricardo Sanchis Badia, died young, and his son, Ricardo Sanchis Carpio (b. 1937) was trained by his grandfather and uncle. Ricardo Sanchis son's are now running the shop, although their father continues to build a highend line of guitars under his own name. I have visited this small-factory, but shop might be a more accurate discription since rather than high-tech assembly they continue to use traditional building techniques, doing most operations by hand. The result is that they can produce affordable guitars that still have the virtues of hand-made guitars. I brought this guitar back from the NAMM show. Obviously, David and German want to show their best work at a trade show, so this 2F is a great guitar, and an even better value. It offers a true flamenco sound, with a plenty of power.
