The Spanish luthier Casimiro Lozano Carrillo was born in 1954 in Casasimarro. In 1969, he started a long apprenticeship in the workshop of Vicente Carrillo, eventually becoming its foreman. In 1992, he opened his own shop, where he know works with his son Victor. Initially, Casimiro’s guitars were inspired by those of Ignacio Fleta. A few years ago, however, inspired by the German luthier Matthias Damman, he began building double top guitars, and has become one of the leading builders in Spain building this type of guitar. Casimiro's double tops have two soundboards, composed of two very thinly worked tops. Each is unbelievably light and vibrant, making for a powerful guitar with rich, open, very Spanish tone, with a dynamic range. Lozano’s guitars are played professional guitarists such as Göran Söllscher, Fernando Espí, Pedro Jesús Gómez, Takeshi Tezuka, Edgar Petejo, Wim Brioen, Hans shield, Reza Solimani, Carsten Grondahl, Carlos Cunha, Miguel Carvalhinho, Ricardo Barceló.
