This is a superb concert instrument by German luthier Dennis Tolz, one of the most respected contemporary makers working in the double-top tradition. Built in 2020, this guitar represents the mature period of Tolz’s work—refined, powerful, and highly responsive.
The spruce/cedar composite double top delivers exceptional projection with a wide dynamic range, while maintaining clarity and separation across voices. The tone is immediate and articulate, with excellent sustain and a strong, focused bass response. It is equally at home on stage or in the studio.
The granadillo back and sides (Platymiscium cf. yucatanum) contribute to the instrument’s clarity and brilliance, offering a tonal palette that sits between rosewood and maple—clean, projecting, and highly defined.
Finished in French polish, the guitar is extremely responsive under the right hand, allowing for nuanced control of color and attack.
Condition: This guitar over is in excellent condition. There is a small crack in the side that has been expertly repaired by a professional luthier.
