The Spanish luthier Pedro Maldonado (1929-2020) was born in Loja, Granada. As little boy, he developed a great affection for the guitar, and at nine was already cutting wood into the shape of guitars in his father's carpentry shop. In 1950, he went to Granada and apprenticed first with Manuel de la Chica (1911-1998), then with Miguel Robles (1902-1970) who credits as being his primary teacher. Miguel Robles had been a disciple of Benito Ferrer (1845-1925), and had worked for José Ramirez II (1885-1957) and Santos Hernández (1874-1943).

This guitar is his XIX century model--a tribute to Antonio Torres, which because of the worked involved, he made but a few, the last one being in 2007. In pricing this guitar, because comparables are not to be found for sale, I consulted Luis Maldonado who continues to offer this model about costs, and would have to sell one for $30,000.

This guitar is a work of art and made with the finest aged woods available. It is in excellent condition. I know the owner, and have had the pleasure of playing it. It is a wonderful guitar, and worth every penny of the price the owner is asking for it.
