his brand-new 2024 Diego Cabeza Montiel Model II, the maker has been listed by the maker. This instrument reflects Montiel’s refined contemporary approach, combining traditional Spanish construction with carefully selected tonewoods and a precise, player-friendly setup.
The Canadian red cedar top delivers warmth, immediacy, and rich color, while the Indian rosewood back and sides, accented with curly maple, add depth, clarity, and visual elegance. The guitar is finished entirely in shellac (French polish), enhancing resonance and preserving a light, responsive feel.
Playability is excellent, with a 660 mm scale length and a 52.5 mm nut width, offering both projection and comfort. Action is professionally set at 2.70 mm on the 6th string and 2.0 mm on the 1st string, with revealed bone measurements of 3.40 mm (6th) and 2.40 mm (1st)—ideal for concert or advanced study use without compromise.
Fitted with custom luthier-made tuners with bearings, tuning is exceptionally smooth and precise. The instrument is brand new, with no repairs, no finish issues, and no neck movement.
Diego Cabeza Montiel is a Spanish luthier based in Seville, where he crafts handcrafted classical and flamenco guitars alongside his father, Luis. Originally trained as a structural engineer, Diego found his true calling in guitar making after working with his family in their workshop and learning the craft firsthand from his father. Drawing on his background in engineering and music, he brings precision, passion, and deep attention to detail to every instrument he builds. Each guitar is made with carefully selected tonewoods and finished with traditional shellac (French polish), reflecting a commitment to both sound quality and aesthetic beauty. His instruments are custom-made with a focus on resonance, playability, and artistic expression.
