This José Ramírez 1a 8-string concert guitar, numbered 11207 and dated 1977, is a superb example of the workshop’s craftsmanship during its golden era. The instrument was built by luthier number 9, a designation corresponding to Felipe Valles—one of the highly respected artisan builders working under José Ramírez III during the 1970s. Guitars constructed by Valles are prized by collectors and performers alike for their exceptional tonal consistency, structural integrity, and refined aesthetic.
This particular example remains in pristine, as-new condition. It has never been played and shows no signs of wear, scratches, or repairs. The top is Canadian red cedar, paired with striking Brazilian rosewood back and sides. The instrument is finished in polyurethane and fitted with original Fustero tuners.
Given the rarity of unplayed 1970s Ramírez 1a guitars—particularly extended-range models and that this one was built by the Ramirez master craftsmen Felipe Valles (whose guitars during this period were designated by the number 9) a price of $7,000 USD is more than reasonable, especially for collectors or professional players seeking an untouched historical instrument with exceptional provenance.
